Three Ways to Take Care of Your Tires This Winter

It’s no secret that the winter months are often the most difficult on the longevity of your car. From the frigid conditions outside, to potentially icy roadways, winter hazards are all around you. That’s why during this season, it is more important than ever to be vigilant in maintaining your car. And that starts with taking care of your tires.

Nothing ruins a road trip like car trouble, and in the chilly winter air, the last thing you want is to be stranded on the side of the road. But the good news is there are a few simple things you can do to make sure that worst case scenario doesn’t happen to you. Follow these tips and help ensure you and your family’s safety during your next road trip.

Fill Your Tires: Putting air in your tires is remarkably easy and can be done at most any gas station. The key thing to know when filling your tires is what psi level your tires need. You can find that information in your owner’s manual if you don’t know it already. A tire that is over-inflated can be just as dangerous as an under-inflated tire, so always make sure you are aware.

Rotate Tires: Your two front tires and your two back tires wear down unevenly. If left to their own devices, these uneven tires will affect your car’s performance and can lead to danger on the road. But there is an easy solution, every so often it is important to rotate these tires. Doing this can tremendously increase the life span of your tires and give you peace of mind while driving.

Align Tires: Do you ever notice your car veering to one side of the road? That is probably because your tires are not aligned. The best way to fix this is to bring it in to a trusted mechanic and let them fit the tires correctly.
