Our Best Winter Weather Tips

Are you ready for the cold weather? Even if you aren’t, you’ll be forced to soon enough. But with the cold weather comes changing road conditions, and we don’t want you and your family in a dangerous situation because you have not adequately and safely prepared for what the winter months may bring your way. So we have tips of what you can do to help ensure you’re ready for whatever the cold weather brings.

1. Double Check Your Battery
Nothing ruins your day like a dead battery. And that misery goes up tenfold when you’re left stranded in freezing weather. The best way to make sure that doesn’t happen to you is to bring your car into our service department to have its health checked. Our team will be able to help you determine if you are good to go or need to make a change. Better now than later!

2. Make sure your tires are in good health
You won’t be surprised to find out that having proper tires for winter is of the upmost importance. So what can you do to make sure your tires are safe? First, inspect them closely. Try to notice if the tread of your tires are worn down out at all. Are all the grooves an indentations still there or has your tire become worn down over time? Next, make sure your tires are inflated to the recommended levels. You can do this with a simple tire gauge or at a gas station that offers an air pump. Finally, take your car in to get a professionally done rotation and alignment. The procedures will help extend the life of your tires and keep your car running smooth.

3. Check your coolant and antifreeze levels
When the temperatures get real low, antifreeze is vital to your engines health. It will keep your engine running smoothly even when you’re driving in below freezing weather. There are simple kits available at auto supply shops where you can measure the antifreeze level in your car for yourself, or you can bring it in to a mechanic to have them evaluate it.
